What is Your Favorite Food?

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.” John 4:34

Have you done it yet?  If you haven’t, I bet you have thought about it!  It’s a New Year and that can only mean one thing, a New Year’s resolution.  The New Year is always a great time to look back, reflect and then evaluate.  If you’re like me there is one area that is always at the top of that New Year’s list, food!  Of course, we Americans can be consumed by the food we eat.  Most of us would probably say this year we want to eat better and eat less.

Please don’t be shocked by what I am about to say, I plan on eating more this year!!!!  That’s right, MORE!  I must admit I could probably use a few more pounds, but that’s not why I want to eat more this year.  I think you know where I am headed with all of this.  Yes, we do need to eat more of the right foods that will bring nourishment to our physical bodies.  Yet there is something even more important than our earthly food, it’s the very food that Jesus lived on.  It is the food that comes from heaven, prepared just for you.  Jesus said, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).”

You won’t find this food in the fridge, nor at your local drive through window.  You can’t order this food from some fancy menu.  This food was prepared long ago and written in a book just for you.  It is the perfect food for all people in all places and it’s free!  Your tab was picked up by the Savior!  There are no calories in this food, just good old fashion nourishment from heaven.  The more you eat this food, the more you want it.

So, what satisfies your hunger?  Is it a big juicy burger, a beautiful garden salad, or a rich gooey desert?  All of these sound good and I wouldn’t mind having all of them right now.  One thing I have learned over the years, when God’s prepares a meal for you, nothing on earth can compare.

Jesus made it very clear by the way He lived His life.  He wanted all that God had for Him, no matter what the cost.  God had a plan for Jesus’ life and nothing was going to get in the way of Him fulfilling God’s perfect will.  He was driven, He was disciplined, He ate and was satisfied.  What are you eating?  Are you disciplined and are you satisfied?  Make this year your best ever!  God has prepared a feast just for you.  Take the time each day to sit down at His table, open the book of life and eat until you are satisfied.

Who knows, this might become your favorite meal of the day!

Enjoy.
